On his insurance though

It's a real industry - I suspect all parties operate on maximum margins as we policy holders eventually end up picking up the tab through our premiums - with not a huge choice of options

One of the reasons why insurance premiums increased in my (SK) area postcode was the incident of fake crashes at a roundabout near where I work - guys got jailed for it

It's just wrong though that the ambulance chasers are still allowed to trade - its just wrong

Can I insist it's repaired at LR ?

And as I have haven't got legal cover .. What's the chances of getting my policy excess back ???

You shouldn't have to worry about excess, when some dozy woman drove into me my (her fault) I didn't loose any excess and premium didn't go up. Speak to your insurer. Thumbs Up

In the past I've used accident management companies who claim the maximum amount from the other party and found them very good.

They make sure you get identical hire car, approved repairer etc and loss of earnings (by the hour) etc etc

You get the idea and I know we all end up paying for it in the end.

I think you can, no reason why you car is not put back to exactly the same condition as before the accident.

We have a bodyshop next door who do a very good job - they do all our vans, but to be honest if its my car I would probably insist it went to a main dealer - (although it might then end up being repaired by someone else )

Pressure your insurer that it has to be a LR main dealer as it may otherwise invalidate the warranty - they will get all back from the 3rd party - If not insist that the insurance company to indemnify you against any costs you incur if any work done invalidates the Land Rover warranty - that is usually enough to get them to play ball, although in this case not a lot it could invalidate.

Good luck & hopefully a speed repair - plus above some AMC are very good

Been down this route, before I knew the ins and outs of the system, and never again

I did it because I wanted the car fixed at my place of work.
However, 3 years of ongoing legal disputes over hire car costs really isn't worth the hassle Evil or Very Mad

When I smacked my Disco into the back of a van last year (my fault Embarassed ) - I could have had the option of using LR, but was more hassle with me having to sort some things out myself )mostly courtesy car etc.)

Got the details of the recomended repairer and called them and they stated they did a lot of work for local LR dealers and only used OEM parts, so took the chance and went with them - went to pick up the car, set up looked very professional and all good so far.

However, if my car had been newer rather than 4.5 years old, may have gone down a different route.

An Accident Management company tried to sue me years ago when my insurance company refused to pay out on the other drivers like for like courtesy car - my mates loss adjusting company sorted it out for me

Thanks chaps Thumbs Up

Just phoned the insurance company and I don't have to worry about policy excess .. Thumbs Up

Approved dealer is going to get in touch within 4 hours .. And if it's not LR then I can ring them back and get it changed .. So we will see .

I'm covered for a courtesy car Thumbs Up .. However it's only a 1.0 petrol Evil or Very Mad .. Knew I should have checked up on that when I took out my insurance .
