Censored , really? Sad I'm waiting for my dealer to call back tomorrow with confirmation that everything is on plan for February delivery. Probably just sold my outgoing car too. Crying or Very sad Might be a struggle being car-less for 2 months. Was the rear diff shortage definitely the cause? Or have you ordered some other weird combo?

Well worth the wait for the locking rear diff.....

My D3 didn't have it and was keen to hang on the 3.5 months for the D4 factory build and don't regret it (although I think I drove the wife up the wall)

With the recent weather in the UK, the rear diff has come into its own, especially considering the extra power on the D4- its unstoppable

When you get yours, you will love it Mr. Green Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Cheers... Chris

Well it's arrived and feeling rather good. Stupid question I expect but is the engagement of the rear diff fully automatic or can you override it? Only digested parts of the ops manual so far but cannot find any reference yet!

The rear diff is fully auto and up until I had my 4x4 screen enabled I didn't know it was on or off. Now I can see the rear padlock going red (ON).

Just for future reference of anybody wondering how to test if a locking rear diff is fitted, I had occasion to try this recently:

Put the screen in 4x4 info if available
Drive to a gravel car park/road/drive, or find some snow on the ground
Switch TR to 'sand' - this allows the power to come in pretty fiercely
Boot it hard from a standstill taking all necessary safety precautions
Lock symbol over rear diff will switch to orange/red and stay there for a while ie it does not turn off immediately after traction has been resumed.

If no locking rear diff, the lock symbol will stay green no matter what you do, having taken necessary safety precautions.

(If no 4x4 info then crawl under rear axle taking all necessary safety precautions and look for metal canister sticking out from top-ish.)
using arm rest more than rear diff

If you are planning to get a GS with out the fancy information screens of the XS and HSE , do you still get indication active locking rear diff is working?

No, and to be honest you dont need it. When you are in situations where the rear diff lock is likely to engage there are more important things to look at.

IMO the 4x4 screen is a gimmick to show your mates - I cant say it has provided me with invaluable information when offroad and I dont use it anymore...

The only meaningful offroading I have done was on the LR Experience day and I only used the screen to see if the car had a locking rear diff fitted. (It didn't).
