Rear diff removal - how to take exhaust off
I am about to replace my rear diff. In order to drop the diff you apparently need to take the exhaust off.
However the D4 diesel has a cat and the middle section where the front part meets the rear is totally rusted. All 3 nuts connecting rear with cat are impossible to losen.
Shall I remove the exhaust right behind the downpipe or??????
Thanks for advice.Achim

Just drop it in one, undo the front bolts and take off the rubber mounts..

Split at 3 bolts in front of the centre box, or in front of the cat. Either way just cut the bolts and replace with new, or chances are they will snap if you have a go at them.
The clamp in front of my cat was not in good condition but I bought a replacement.

drop it in one means to undo the single screw on the clamp in front of the cat? There are 2 hoses attached to the cat and the greenish wire. No issues there if taken off?Achim
