| Rattling engine when @ Idle |
|
When idling the engine has a rattle.
When you put your foot on the accelerator the rattle dies down.
Any advice would be welcome

Aux belt tensioner or the bearing in the alternator.

Also check for loose heat shields and make sure the acoustic cover is properly fitted (remove oil cap, and pull cover off, then press it back down onto its posts, refit oil cap)

Belt tensioner!- put a drop of oil on the swivel part of the tensioner without getting any on the belt, or water will do, if it stops or changes tune you've found it, temporary only  It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Had a look today and it looks like the tensioner is wobbling like mad.
booked in for Monday repairs

D3 now repaired.
Aux belt tensioner had sheared off, very lucky indeed

spotted just in time then.
Mine is on the garage's list to look at as its abit noisy. How much was it roughly to replace parts and labour?

Total cost to replace aux tensioner and fit a new belt was £140 all in
