Rattle from underneath on idle when hot |
|
Appears to be from the central box on the exhaust but difficult to tell - going into dealers in a week or so - but any thoughts - transmission related? - disapears when accelerator touched

Have a look at the exhaust heat shield, its over the top of the silencer and looks like a shiny dimpled panel.

Cheers Gareth - that seems OK (but not thorough inspection - pitch black, crawling around underneath) - was thinking transmission - but if its in Park - theres nothing moving down there?

Mine was same as Gareth, needed to just bend it away with fingers. Suspect went through large puddle and pushed it up. d4 HSE

My rattle turned out to be the clamp joining the two halves of the exhaust coming loose, or perhaps when the TC was replaced, they did not tighten it up enough. I was initially convinced it was something major. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

this might interest you bud...
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic96108.h...st+bracket
BTW the OEM bracket is an integral fitting on the front exhaust section, not available as a separate part either thru LR or Jag hence me blow torching off the old and stick on a new universal bracket

have you been offroad.
I had a rattle from the exhaust when I turned the engine off.
turned out to be a stone stuck against the side of the exhaust and the chassis Duncan
