Hi all
I’ve done a good search around and can’t find an answer but I have a metallic rattle/jingle coming from both front wheels when driving at slow to medium road speeds and hitting even the smallest of bumps/ unevenness in the road. It sounds like a washer rattling on a metal stud, cats eyes cause it and any small bump/hole. It’s fine over speed humps or bigger things and doesn’t get worse with bigger undulations or holes etc. I can also only hear it when the windows are down. I’ve been underneath and all around it and can’t find anything loose, checked all the under trays and no loose bolts.
I don’t have any clunking or play in the steering and it seems to drive great. I do think it’s a little wallowy and especially when towing but think that’s a different issue and more likely to be the shocks are shagged as they are also original.
Could it be the ARB drop links? Can I test them or is it easiest just to replace. My car is. 2009 D4 on 115k and everything still looks original under there to be honest.
Any thoughts much appreciated
Thanks

Check the brake disc guards - they can rust through and then move around and rattle

Thanks Swansty, yep that was what I was thinking but they look in better shape than I expected! They run reasonably close to the disk and if I give them a prod they will touch but I dont think it’s them
