RADIO WITH A MIND OF ITS OWN

Anyone had experience of the radio changing stations and even going to/from Cd when it wants to ? I thought at first I might have been touching the mode or next/last channel buttons whilst manoeuvring. But last few days it has changed radio station and to CD on its own ?

Not heard of that happening before, maybe it's trying to tell you something about your music tastes Wink

Trip down the dealer in order by the sounds of it

Firstly I must say that I am extremely satisfied with my D3, I quote this to help potential purchasers see that even if I have a few glitches I still think the car is fantastic.

Now onto this thread:
I had a similar thing and it only happened the once, the cd was playing out of the right hand channel and a radio station (at a lower volume) out of the left hand channel???????????
Only happened the once and hasn't happened since.
Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"

could be a problem with the 'clock spring' assembly that connects the steering wheel control system to the audio unit

I had a similiar problem; CD playing then would switch to radio and random channel. Also if the CD was playing when the car was stopped, upon restarting the radio would aways be selected.

Dealer job and was fixed with a software update.

Not this particular problem however recently on two occassions we got in the car and the AM Radio presets had gone. Then a couple of days later they were back and we did not reset them in the meantime. Wierd.

Radio not working

Well I managed to get to 11 days before the first fault occured! On our way out today just about to call into the dealer to pick up a set of carpet mats (the first ones were for a left hand drive vehicle - the latest catelogue has the wrong part number), when the CD player came on by itself. Turned it off but later in the day when I tried to turn thr radio on it was dead. It shows the time but nothing else works. Called into the dealer on the way home and it is now booked in for Monday. Does anybody know, is this just a software fault?

Well, since my last post on this thread (3 or 4 posts up) I 've now got my car - V8 HSE, and yes the radio keeps changing stations by itself.... Laughing

I had one of those rare days last Saturday where I was the only occupant of the car, so whacked the stereo up to 22 and annoyed passers-by. Sad, I know. Went to a shop and when I returned, the radio would not respond at all - it was switched on and displaying CD X, Track Y and would even let me switch to FM/AM/AUX but would not respond to either volume or track changing. Drove to another shop and when I switched on again, it was back to normal. Have had this happen on my MINI too. Could be a cut-out due to overheating of the amp?

radio!!!!!

If I use the push buttons to select a station all is fine. If I leave the vehicle when I return the radio shows radio 4 but it's actually playing anything it fancies. It also comes on at whatever volume it likes, both quite or very loud. Dealer state can't find a fault so LR won't acept a warranty claim to change it. Trying dealer again soon.
