TMC doesn't work in France. I seem to remember someone (Gurvan?) said that LR hadn't paid the necessary license fees to someone or other.

Does not work for me due to the lack of payment of fees...
I have tried using the 107.7 (Which is customary for a lot of motorways...) but it is spotty at best and does not work on my system...
Thanks for the information anyway... Georgia On My Mind...

In France for the moment their is two TMC system.
One Public using the High way frequency RDS radio 107.7Mhz.
The information given are poor because they are managed by the high way and give only information about the considered High way.
The second one is a private service :
The problem is that the society delivering the service (V-TRAFIC) want to be paid by terminal by manufacturer for the second installation system or by the cars manufacturer for the original installation terminals.
No way for an individual account!!!
Here is the URL of the V-TRAVIC site (sorry in French) with the list of the brand who paid the service.
http://www.v-trafic.com/
This service use the RDS France Inter broadcast frequency and the information are scripted
It’s one of the most powerful Service in Europe (I use It every day)
It's a pity that Land-Rover (but also Audi, Mercedes, Peugeot and so on) don’t want pay the fees for it's about 60€ one shot per terminal.
The car manufacturer who pay are :
Renault/Nissan, BMW, Subaru, Volvo
The GPS manufacturer who pay are :
Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, VDO/Dayton
Some new society are making tests but we have to wait "Lady": Discovery 3 HSE Seven TDV6 Tonga Green.
Options : Automatic Gearbox, Premium navigation system, Personal telephone integration system, Park distance control front, Powerfold exterior mirrors, Sunroof plus Alpine roof, Lower centre console cooler box, Cold climate pack, Full size spare wheel.

I think just listening to 107.7 is the best way to travel in France (when on PEAGE). For the English speaking drivers, one sometimes need a translator because the English pronunciation is sometimes very weird.
Even with my Renault Espace or our Renault Laguna equipped with built-in GPS, TMC information is very poor or non-existant. Using a VDO Dayton (separate unit) is not too good either.

Well, I've never seen the TMC symbol activated in the "Ile-de-France", nor between Paris and Calais, which is about all we ever do in France!
recarmen: Do you use the A15 to get into Paris? I see a Tonga D3 some mornings and evenings (I don't use the D3 to go to work though) and they're not that common.

I have not my D3 yet.
It ‘supposed to be delivered in March
For the TMC in France if you take a High Way, you have to choose the 107.7 frequency
Out of High Way no TMC on a DISCO "Lady": Discovery 3 HSE Seven TDV6 Tonga Green.
Options : Automatic Gearbox, Premium navigation system, Personal telephone integration system, Park distance control front, Powerfold exterior mirrors, Sunroof plus Alpine roof, Lower centre console cooler box, Cold climate pack, Full size spare wheel.

Right, had my TMC work for the first time in France.
It worked south of Paris on the A6 for about 20 miles. However it was next to useless as the screen just lit up with road work symbols which all turned out to be non-existant ...and then it just disapppeared again
I was tuned to 107.7 all the time (as always in France when on Autoroutes) end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Will try French TMC next week (Valenciennes -> Paris).
German TMC information was useless on the A1 last week - TMC announced non existing roadworks all the time with alternative route proposals every now and then..
The areas with actual roadworks were then again not announced at all by TMC. Finally ended up in a traffic jam cause by roadworks: 12 km of driving took me approx. 2 hours.
Same problem with Belgian TMC - Some of the TMC info comes in late or does not come in at all.
Danish and Swedish TMC broadcasting was great. Road works, accidents... it was all there - very accurate !
