Radio not working but screen permanently on

I hope someone can help please.

The CD/radio (think it's the standard model) on my Discovery 3 stopped working and the screen is now permanently on (not just for ten minutes after shutting off, but all night).

It is showing the clock symbol and 8:43 as a time - all the time!

I'm concerned that it will drain the battery.

I've checked the amp fuse which is fine (and removing it didn't do anything to shut off the screen).

Is there another fuse(s) I need to check or can anyone suggest a solution please.

Many thanks in advance.

If the display is on and the clock is "stopped" do the following

With power going to the radio (ignition in position 2) take the radio (as opposed to the amp) fuse out, count to 5 and put it back in. The radio should come back on.

I've had this little foible before and the fix works every time

Thanks for the speedy reply.

When you say the radio fuse, where do I find this?

Have found the handbooks pretty confusing and not very helpful Sad

Thank you

The fusebox behind the glovebox.

To get at it, you open the glovebox and pinch the support stays together so the lid falls completely open.
You then see the fuses. I think it's fuse 53 (15 amp) but I couldn't swear to it. They are labelled though.

Try a hard reset. Look at the wiki.

It does drain the battery so try and get it turned off if you can.

Mr Kington

hard reset was going to be the next step if that didn't work, but no need.

Light is now out and radio working again.

Phew.

Thanks all

A hard reset would work but removing the fuse is probably easier!

I've seen umpteen Disco's do this and the key is to cut the power to the radio - pulling the fuse is probably the most straightforward and hearing the radio come on when you put it back in is quite gratifying!

Keep an eye on it. Mine did this a while back and kept doing it on and off.

Hi guys

I was searching the forum and not at all expecting to find what sounds like exactly the same experience as mine!! All the symptoms seem the same, except my clock screen shows 13:41 Very Happy (the time it decided to freeze!)

Tomorrow I shall delve into the glove box and get at fuse #53 and fingers crossed.

Bow down guys

Removing the fuse worked for me when we had a permanent phone disconnected message and the satnav screen also stayed on, as well as the radio display

Having trouble getting to the FUSE box, and cant find much resource online.
Is it located behind the upper glove box compartment or the lower one?

Thanks

Fuse box is behind the lower glove box, pinch the side supports firmly and drop the glove box right down towards the floor.
