Nice video and editing Thumbs Up But did you have permission from the MOD for access to the Driver training area near Tidworth? As this isn't part of a byway, and is strictly out of bounds to civilian vehicles.

Also, I hope your drone was under 200g (ie classed as a toy) as that is a huge no no over SPTA also!

Looks to me like the driver training area in the area of Chalkpit Hill just north of Tidworth.

You will get shot and killed with a spoon if you are caught on there by a warden - without permission. If you are very very lucky, they will just let you go home with a flea in your ear.

Further investigation and discussion of this video on the Salisbury plain off road facebook group (who have a good working relationship with the MOD and local authorities) indicates this is a company selling guided tours on Salisbury Plain Training Area.

So that's going off piste, flying a commercial drone over military ground and an illegal tour operation.

As all three activities strain the relationships between legitimate and law abiding GLASS adhering type clubs and groups and the authorities (I was on the plain myself at the weekend with bodsy, alfamale and others) I am uncomfortable with this thread.

My understanding is that the video and the company have been reported to the authorities.

And finally...

The winch skills displayed in the opening scene are woeful, negligent and foolhardy. No winch blanket and the controller is in the direct path of the pull. He could have been critically and catastrophically injured in the event of a crack off.

if this is a commercial organisation breaking the law and also potentially putting the unknowing general public in danger then I hope they are prosecuted and busted!

Video edited well mind! Thumbs Up

For some reason I cannot access the video but from the comments I can understand why now.
A similar video was posted some time ago and when I mentioned the illegal activity being shown and was castigated for my comments.
A certain poster said that one of the persons taking part was a 'Highly decorated senior officer' and would have known of any illegal activity.
My reply was that in all the years I policed, patrolled and worked on the plain I never at any time noticed any such exemption to the SPTA By laws for such persons. I also pointed out the dangers of military detria not having any way of recognising who it was blowing up or tearing to pieces.
The military do not always clear items that could be a danger to the public after every exercise but decide to do such clear ups at intervals on the assumption that it is more cost effective and less labour intensive that way.
The Range Marshals/Safety Officers patrol to prevent unauthorised access to such areas. to keep the public safe.
As an aside, I found one of the prohibited activities to be a rather strange but non the less possibly dangerous and that was the flying of kites !!

My general experience of "highly decorated senior officers" during my army career trekking (on foot and vehicle bound) across the plain was that, unless there was an NCO nearby, they were largely clueless as to their exact location 8)
