A quick detachable tow bar question...

Hi all,

A friend of mine is looking at a few 1 yr old D4's this weekend and wants the detachable tow bar option. She'll use it every other month to tow a trailer to collect her bio fuel (home heating).

My question is, knowing that they don't have the best reputation (the tow bars that is!), what's the best way to make sure that it's fine, and if there's too much 'wriggle', how does she get the main dealer to replace it?

Cheers...

If the D4 was a year old and the towbar was specced at build then it will be under full warranty for a further two years Thumbs Up

Why does she want the detachable tow bar? I'm absolutely sure that for her purposes, it would be 100% fine. However, once there is that niggling doubt, isn't it better to eliminate it? I swapped mine to Tow Trust. I think I paid out £25 over what I sold the removable unit for. I never worry about it as, in my opinion, it is an excellent product.

Any movement is excessive, especially on a year old car. If you can move it by hand, then think what a 2-3 tonne trailer can do Thumbs Up

Well to fail an MOT it's 3mm either way at the ball end ...but for the age I would agree with Mav

Thanks for your responses, my friend has just bought a D4 without one, so I think she's having a permanent one fitted by Indespension or the like.
