Question on Roof Rail trim

I have just waved goodbye to my four year old TD4 and said hello to my new Silver 07 XS Disco. But before I give the dealer a hard time I have a question. Should the factory fit rool rails be covered by some sort of trim or are they normally completley uncovered.
Great site by the way. I have read lots on here both good and bad and then I still went and ordered one.
I was a little sad to see the Freebie driven away after 95000 miles but needed some thing bigger.

Hello and welcome Freebie2Disco.

Good Question. I was just thinking the same the other day when viewing the car from an upstairs window (Is it only me who does that?)

I thought it would look better with plastic capping on the rails. They have been naked from day one.

my 07 HSE hasn't got any trim in the rails, ...the bars wouldn't fit and if there was trim, you'd need to cut it when you put the bars on.

Only with the dealer not the car. Turned up with 8 miles of fuel left and I'm 6 miles from a garage. They must have absolute faith in the fuel gauge. I didnt, so got in the wifes Audi and got a gallon in a can. Very annoyed.

If you take a look at the DIY instructions for fitting roof rails (GTE free info) it shows removing and cutting and then replacing the trim. So, at least when fitting the roof rails yourselves, Land Rover think the trim should be there.

Cheers,
Steve

Don't pay to have the roof rails fitted ....it's very easy and only a 40 minute job Wink

Mine had capping trim on it, although it was a long time ago.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Rhino-rack do after market ones.
Much cheaper than LR ones even if you pay to fit them. and include the cross bars. Very Happy
Don't know if they are available in U.K. Confused
