Pete I wonder if you can clear up my worries if I fit a EGR blanking kit will it cause any problems with the Cat converter on my 56 reg D3 Andy

We have sold many kits to many members on the forum and worldwide and have never had a catalyst problem that is connected to egr after fitting an egr blanking kit.

Never heard of a cat problem, whether by blanking EGRs (BAS kit, simple plates or 2p coins) or anything else.

Petes put a remap on for me as well as blanked the egrs.
And to tell you the truth. The D3 should have came out of the factory in this form. No probs what so ever. Top bloke and the most excellent service.

Can the blanking kits be put onto an 05 D3? Seem to recall on ther forum that they could only be fitted onto 06+ D3
If they can be fitted -
1. What are the benefits?
2. Cost?

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valves. there is two of these in the TDV6. very common and well documented failure rate on this item. LR will replace under warranty if they fail, if you lucky to still have warranty. as above can take these out and replace with blanking kit up MY06 models. unfortunately those of us with 07's are still waiting for a solution. use the search for more info but be prepared for lots of reading!!

Have had the blanking plates fitted since summer last year and has been a transformation although wouldnt be difficult considering couldnt get above 2000 revs when one of the EGR's decided to bow out.
Would definitely say performance is better than it was with the EGR's although I get the impression it makes the car a bit thirstier (or maybe that just rising fuel prices).
Bought my blanking kit from bell autos and fitted it myself which is an absolute miracle considering my lack of mechanical knowledge.
Getting the blanking kit is definitely a good decision and to this point have never read any regrest from anyone who has done it.
