Quentin Willson is desperate for my business.... |
|
A few weeks ago I casually filled out the online application for a quote from Warrantywise....
I went for their most comprehensive option, but didn't commit to buying. The blurb told me everything was covered as it was their premium warranty.
A week ago I got another e-mail offering a reasonable discount ...but then this morning I was offered the discount plus Air Bag System,Air Conditioning and Emissions Failure Cover also ....this begs the question, how many more "uncovered" items should I wait to be offered before committing to their "total cover" Warranty ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Through experience, the 'wear & tear' items aren't covered in the 'wear & tear' included policy... as they haven't worn, just reached the end of their useful life!
Some items like a driveshaft gaitor, are not a 'mechanical component' so that's not covered....
(what it is if not mechanical, I don't know).
It is pot luck if they decide to pay, as I have had some claims accepted on some vehicles, & declined on other vehicles for the same item.
HTH
Regards
Steve

Read a lot of the threads on warrenties and some have good news and some bad. The thing that made me not go with them was one post saying something like " people who look after there vehicles end up paying for people who don't. "
Appreciate its a personal thing and i am not mechanically minded but worked on premise that just short of £2000 for three years was a lot of money, or was it two years cant remember but it was a lot. So will save the money look after the disco and treat her right and pay for things when they go wrong as have a good mechanic. Expect i will need a Faultmate at some point !!
Hope it helps 1974 lightweight

Just to be fair to them, after rejecting all of my claims and delaying inspection so that I needed to hire a D4 (that was nice though) I complained direct to quentin and within an hour or so had the MD on the phone and they refunded premiums and hire costs. If you went strictly by the letter of the policy then I suppose they were right to reject them but strictly by the letter of the policy then it is almost impossible to make a claim! Not a lot of use really! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Hmm...don't hear too many good stories...but then good news doesn't make the front page I suppose....
I have never taken or extended a warranty on any car after the allotted 3 years manufacturers one runs out.....however part of the deal when I bought the Disco was that it came with a 3 month warranty.
2 months into ownership,my front diff failed and they paid out....about £1000 all in.I have to admit,I was surprised, but relieved all the same....It just made me wonder about taking one out after all.....
But on the flipside, there are so many stories of items, which on first appearance are covered, that are turned down.....
Think I will let Quentin top up his pension plan elsewhere... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
