Quantifying performance gains from a TDV6 remap
Does anyone who has had a remap done have any before and after figures?
I know a lot of people say the D3 goes a lot better and feels more responsive etc but to what extent?
Whilst 0-60 times are relatively unimportant to a 2.7 tonne projectile shaped like a brick, does anyone have a time for before and after? Or possibly a 30-60 time? Or any other way to measure the performance gain?
I don't ever expect a Disco to be fast, I'm just interested to hear people's experiences.
Thanks

This was with "Torq Tune" on my previous D3 - standard 0-60 is 11.7secs

Ok tried a quick acceleration test this evening...the scenario is:
D3 TDV6 Auto
Normal gearbox mode
Expo rack
MTR tyres
A -Bar
Spots
Rear Ladder
Mantec Plate
Fuel load: Approx. 30 litres
35kgs of gear in the boot
95kg of driver in front
Measurement device: Garmin Forerunner 305 professional GPS stopwatch
GPS chip: High Sensitivity SiRF starIII architecture.
Position accuracy < 10 m
Velocity accuracy < 0.05 m/s
Dynamics -Max G force specification ~ 6g/s
Device activated at Entry slip road - A3 southbound Esher continuing at normal pace to A3 Cobham. I came off at this junction and entered the A3 northbound entry sliproad stopping on the hard shoulder at the bottom for traffic to clear. At 05.27 on the clock I accelerated hard and the results can be seen as follows.

Not completely sceintific I appreciate but nonetheless as accurate as many could register IMHO....
A 0-60 time of 10 seconds given all the kit and tyres etc is outstanding in my book
Subjective perhaps, but my D3 without the re-map would have sold within the first three months rather than being kept for three years. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Now have JMC's old D3 (called Bluie) and it lost its remap when turbo was changed!!! To experience it back to normal was not good, grin returned once remap was reapplied.

You already own one of the best vehicles ever built...
Go and buy a V8 if you want performance!!

Mine now has a minor tweak and although I don't know the figures, it's all in the drive experience now. More torks' for torking faster when the right hand pedal is pressed. I used to get hung up with Evo's and Scoob about what gains were made and what it was on paper. Got passed that now and prefer to 'feel' the improvement.
Heading home from nightshift last night I drove it home like I stole it. On MT/R's I managed to get the mpg reading down to 10mpg giving a few cars a fright along the way....(no I never looked at them out the window while I was licking it )
I only got the RS4 down to 12mpg over 80 miles......... The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

No need, I have a 1 litre, 4 cylinder already.........
2005 GSX-R1000
As i said originally, I was not intrested in getting a high speed rush from a 4x4, just trying to see how the engine improvements translated into real world performance.

Mines been Torq Tuned and using the 'Dynolicious' app on the Iphone it reckons on a 9.9 Standing start to 60mph, though I reckon that's fairly un-scientific even though the accelerometer on the Ipod is pretty good.
Real world is the key here, firstly no more turbo lag, roundabouts are now a pleasure, spot gap, foot down, gone....no more " where's the power" moments.
Most of my mileage is motorways and the real benefit is here, when I used to get caught up in slower moving traffic then get a clear road I'd struggle to get going and out drag your Niassan Mavara's, 40 ton wagons, milkfloats etc.....the reality now is in gear acceleration on the mway is up there with the X5's/Q7's and quicker 4x4's which is much more pleasant.
Fuel economy is maybe 1 MPG down on the last full tank I used but it's barely noticeable and I did ask TFC to go for the 'performance' bias.
Having come from an A5 3.0 TDi Quattro Sport the D3 was initially sluggish and painfully difficult to make progress in when the opportunity presented itslef, it's still not at the level of the A5 but it's now a whole lot better and is like a different car completely (feels much more like the 3.0TDi Q7 I had for a couple of weeks), can't recommend it enough (or whatever your tune of choice is - don't wanna start that debate again!).
The only problem now is stopping it Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

There is not much difference between a re-mapped TDV6 and a V8In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
