My experience was they were a lot more interested in selling you the finance, stupidly price wax & wax and gap insurance - once you were polite but firm you wanted none of these things negotiation got a bit harder!
Think its salesman dependent to some degree as well.. Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Of course, you could increase your bargaining power,by agreeing to take out the finance and "decide" to pay it off within the cooling off period of 28 days.....just a thought "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I did this when LR were offering an Extra 1k off is you took their finance on new D3's in '06.
I cancelled the finance during the cooling off period and retained the extra 1k discount. This was in addition to the 10% discount the dealer had given me. Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto
