Puf of white smoke on (hard) acceleration |
|
Hi,
My D3 seems to put out a small puff of white smoke on acceleration, I really only notice this when its dark and the car behinds headlights catch it. Its not really visible in the daytime and its not all the time and seemingly when hot or cold.
The car is well maintained, recent service and also a recent new turbo due to an actuator failure. The car feels ok to dive and manages 28+mpg on the dash.
Any ideas if I need to start looking for something or is this just "a thing"
Thanks, Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

I thought mine was white in the dark, turned out the headlights from behind made my black smoke look white.
I think white smoke in the day is normally EGR valves being sticky (but not exclusively), dark smoke (not blue) can be many things, such as sticky actuator, turbo veins, intercooler pipe split, intercooler hairline crack (thats what mine was after doing all the other obvious stuff).
I tested mine, and could replicate at will, but using command shift, and dropping her down and making her rev and pull, plumes of black smoke.
