I'm due to change my mobile. I can get pretty much any handset for free, but I always have Nokia as I can't be ars*d to learn to use another brand
Currently I have the PTI cradle fiited for my Nokia 6230i.
Does this cradle accept any other Nokia models (other than the 6230)? Or do I have to either get a new 6230i or a different cradle?
Thanks.

Hi LT,
The phone cradle you have should be (XVE50020 or XVE50021) This cradle only accepts Nokia phones and the only Nokia's to fit are 6100, 6220, 6230 & 6230i
Since the 6230i is the latest from this list and Land Rover have no other cradles to fit Nokia phones you may have to stick with the 6230 range or get a new phone which will only connect via Bluetooth.
They do a few other cradles for different phones but are all of the older generation. With conversations i have had with guys at Land Rover i don't think any new cradles are coming up in the near future so it looks like a newer phone which will connect via Bluetooth only.

From my experience either stick with the 6230i or get a new phone but keep the old one as well and divert the new one to it when driving. The BT connection is ok but no phone book which is a pain. If you are likley to change the car to a 2008, as yet the newer Nokias such as the N range and E range don't work at all (assuming it is the same as the Fl2 pti ) DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I have to say that I find this bluetooth 'selectivity' in the D3 utter nonsense. Parrot, SonyEricsson etc all make bluetooth kits which speak to all bluetooth enabled phones. Why do LR install a nokia product which won't even speak to Nokia phones - it is pathetic. The Bluetooth in the D3 is defective - why don't people just say that. Bluetooth is a standard protocol that others can make work without issues. I object to having to fit a parrot to the D3 just because the built in unit in my D3 won't even speak to the phone, let alone use any other features. Of the 4 phones we have, only one (a Nokia E61) speaks to the car reliably. If this is to be excluded in my08 .......
If you were to buy a 3rd party unit to add on to your car and it came with a list of about 10 phones you could get it to work with most of which are obsolete, would you buy it?

fully agree, Alex!
There is one thing that didn't meet my expectations at all in the D3 and it's the cradle + pti.
- makes the cooling box worthless
- doesn't replicate phone functionality such as several numbers per contact
- ...
LR needs to go and have a look at parrot products; cheap and completely functional.
I threw the cradle out (1 hour work) and fitted a Brodit proclip + active holder (five minutes work). The holder+phone is right next to the steering wheel, so all functions are within hands reach. Audio is over the bluetooth. MUUUCH better than the cradle.
Should I throw out the keybaod on the dash as well?

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping that L/R might have kept up with new phones. Nothing has changed since I got my D3, 15 months ago.
I'm not that bothered though, I'll just get yet another new 6230i.
DiscoDunc, our 1 year old phones are normally sold to a friend. If he doesn't want them I'll pm you.

I spoke with a guy at Land Rover yesterday who confirmed there will be no more new cradles for any phones ...he blamed phone manufacturers not coming up with a standard connection system like say a usb connector...which i agee would make things easier for car manufacturers not just Land Rover.
What he did say was....ipod are doing an ipod phone...which is not only a phone but an ipod...!!...Maybe we could do something with that.....
Since they have the ipod connectivity units maybe they are thinking of intergrating the two
Don't know wht the ipod phone will be like....but till then 6230 in the truck...call divert on the shiny new phone. TLO has left the building.......

My N95 works fine on bluetooth, if that helps? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I downgraded from my N73 to a 6230i and just love the no frills of the lesser phone.
The cradle is just crap for me though as most people who call me can hear themselves repeated back which puts them right off. I rely on my phone for work and would love to know what is causing this. It bleeped loudly a while ago and the echo stopped for a while, but not for long and now it's back, any thoughts guys? FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

You can stop the echo by turning the phone volume (on the entertainment unit) down to 19 or below - not had any echo problems with mine since doing this. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

My Nokia E61 and T Mobile MDA both work via BT with little problem. My biggest issue is the lack of phone book, I have too many names to have them all working via voice dialing and just stick to half a dozen important ones.
The parrot CK3100 kits I have are truly superb, will be fitting the one removed from the TD5 into my motorhome.
Regards
Chris
