PTI

Been told today that latest phone kit has bluetooth connection only,no way to hard wire cradle and ext aerial. My 2006 D3 has cradle and ext aerial(which I think looks good on roof of D3)

Anybody have 2007/2008 PTI with cradle or is the dealer right Question

MY2008 has cradle... MY2008.5 not. BT only.

All it needs is a cable TBH, a cradle is not actually required, but LR deemed it too much to try and keep up with all the phone manufacturers changing things. Makes sense really.

With most mid to high end 'phones having USB data leads, it wouldn't have been difficult to come up with a USB interface for simple functionality, but that seems to have escaped them
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Adding the arial and cradle fitting would be possible I'd imagine.

A real pain to do though if the cabling is not in the roof already. You would have to remove the headlining which is all one piece.

I use a charger and the BT in my MY2008 with the N95... works great Thumbs Up

Cradle is not really needed these days as signal strength around most of the UK (on Orange at least) is plenty good enough.

You can navigate your phone book and the name and number even appear in the message centre too.

I always write my posts in MS Word first, spell check there & then copy 'n' paste into the forum Wink

With regard to your PTI question macron, what I’ve seen at the dealers is this……

I was sitting in an XE Disco 3 in the showroom & opened the storage box & was surprised to see a cradle there !

I wasn’t expecting to see this, as I too understood that the new PTI was Bluetooth only.

However, I had RRS out on Demo for a day & there was no cradle for the phone, just Bluetooth connectivity Confused

Of course this has probably only served to confuse the issue further.

However, I’ll be back in at the dealers this week, looking at another D3 & I’ll check to see if there’s a cradle or not & will report back my findings Thumbs Up

That was probably a MY2008 D3.

The non UK models may vary of course or be slightly behind the UK on spec changes.
