Just switched from Admiral £790 to Axa £470
Strangely they quoted £488 first, I then added business use and the price dropped £18

........I'm 25, a carer and student, car is parked on a driveway and it does 8k a year, it has business cover as well.
..........I called them up to ask about protected NCB cover as i have 7 years NCB now and to increase the miles to 10k as i'm hopefully going to Uni come september so will be travelling a bit more. The policy is now sitting at £500.32.............
A couple of questions:
1) did the original policy cover & requote have an annual mileage limit ?...if it did was it imposed or did you get that to get a cost down ?..what was the limit ?....10k per year is pitifully low.
2) The business cover - have you always had this & do you realy need it ?....driving to UNI & to & from yor place/s of work isnt business use..business use cranks up any policy
3) I am presuming the policy is a comrehensive one...what was the NCB provisions of discount & NCB protection ?...I havent had a policy in the last 20 years that didnt have protected NCB..& I havent had to pay more to get this it has come as standard.
I go to a broker who gets the best deal for me each year...so my cover swaps companies...currently with Zurich...I have never been able to get a lower quote
I would suggest going to a broker (a big one ..not an internet site)....I found Admiral a joke when I attemted to get a multi car policy - despite the TV ads.
around £500 isnt a for this group / cost of vehicle....I trust you havent had any convictions..these can affect things. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I've got Land Rover Insurance too. Best quote I could find for GLC address. Has full off road cover and Full Land Rover guaranteed repairs etc. Also NO probs with putting winter wheels an tyres on.
I asked several of the main insurers and NONE of them would commit to me being able to get it ONLY repaired by a Land Rover dealer without extra charges etc. If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

Hello, BLFarrar, just checked back on this,
The original limit of 8k is my rough miles per year as work 1 is only a 8 mile round trip. Work 2 is further away by still under a 20 mile round trip. Driving to college 3 days a week is about 26 miles each time.
I found that business cover was as standard, never knew I had it so can give work the info as it may gain a few more shifts.
Just as I've done epilepsy, autism and first aid training to get better qualifications so I'm more likely to get shifts.
I raised it to 10k as I will be driving to Uni 5 days a week, again 26 miles round trip as the Uni is near my current college.
Have no convictions, clean licence since I passed my test in Oct 04, only have one non fault bump on record as a woman reversed into my old freelander, no damage to mine so no claim. But you have to declare it regardless.
I don't do much off roading due to time factors and lack of true suitable areas, plus until last week I had road tyres so didn't want to risk damaging what is to some small change, but to me a huge amount of money.
The only issue is Direct line don't cover off road use an don't seem keen on modifications which may be an issue as I wish to add and expo rack, snorkel and nudge bar in the future.
Shall phone LR insurance to see why they won't quote and also Adrian flux to see about them. In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Rest well old friend, your work is done.
