Prospeed roofrack
Hi all - contemplating one of these - does anyone have experience of what it's like in terms of increased wind noise or increased fuel consumption when on and empty - obviously if fully loaded it's noticeable, but if I were to leave on for general duties, but often empty, how do people find it?
thanks!

Hi,
Have had mine on for over 3 years now. It never goes off due to lack of storage space especially for such big items.
Observations: apart from giving a D3 more purposeful looks I have carried all sorts of on it including sofas, play-wood boards (13 full size ones in one go), tents and all it have never failed to deliver.
In regards to wind noise yes one can hear more of that over 85 IMHO anything else is unnoticeable. In reg to fuel consumption I think it might add 1-2 MPG to overall consumption but not measured it as got around 100+ KG attached to the car permanently so consumption isn't much of a concern but sill manage to get 400+ miles out of the tank.
Rgds

Same for me, no real noticable change on fuel and being as I drive like a nun, I don‘t notice any wind noice
Carried tents, garden fence pannels, rood bags, doors etc...etc... on mine and handles it perfecly Iggy/Ieuan

Now on my 2nd Prospeed (this one a MkII) agree with the comments above, however I don't really notice any change in noise, rack is exceptionally well made & extremely versitile. Current rack has 2,sets of the heavy duty flooring on as well, I just leave the area above the sunroof free.
Have also had:
Expo Rack- Flimsy & very noisy, noticeable 6-8 MPG less than without it on, cross slats & large gap between fairing & car roof means a lot of noise.
Front runner - Sturdier than Expo & better load area as a flat deck, again cross slats mean it's noisy, would recommend either Hannibal, Big Country or Patriot (slats on load bed run front to back making these quieter) over Frontrunner.

As every one else has said, it's the best rack out there, Ben, at prospeed is very helpful and the product is second to none

Bit late to the conversation but just another Prospeed fan.
As has been said I am hard pushed to hear any noise at all until well over 80MPH even then if you've got the radio on or the Mrs bleating in your ear then it'll be barely audible.
The versatility of it is absolutely fantastic and the one I have with the mesh floor (don't think they do it anymore?) is great for securing even the strangest shaped items securely.
If you get one you'll never want another type of roofrack guaranteed.
I'd also highly recommend their rear ladder too if you get the rack.
