Problem: random bluetooth failure on start up
My bluetooth system is getting worse. This week it has refused to broadcast a blue tooth signal at some stage everyday, changing its mind after getting out of the car locking it and opening again or returning to the vehicle after a meeting. Took it to dealer a couple of weeks ago only to have it work when technician looked at it. They always say its the phone (a blackberry) but when I search for bluetooth signal with my phone and other phones(nokia) it is clear it is not being broadcast!
Anybody got any ideas? I'm in the car for work everyday, receive lots of calls and I think bluetooth is a safety issue. Besides which after paying more than £42K it is infuriating!!!!

My D4 occasionally fails to connect to the phone. When this happens I cannot get it to reconnect, even if I delete the pairing from the phone and try and re-pair them - as you say the phone (Nokia e71) fails to "see" the bluetooth, which suggests the problem is with the vehicle. It usually reconnects ok the next time the vehicle is used.
I cannot work out any pattern to when it happens, but it would probably be once a fortnight or so.2016 D4 Landmark - Waitomo/Ebony

Yes having the same issue. Mine occasionaly does not pair. Have tried r-pairing or searching for the car and it does not find it. The only way to get round it is to shut down car and then re-start, usually finds it then, but it is getting worse and is very annoying.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Probably not much consolation but my bluetooth has been faultless. It is easy to pair and always reconnects on start up. Using my 4th. Blackberry with this car and they have all been as good.2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

Thank for comments. Today was the first day for four weeks that I did not have the problem. It was also the first day that the temperature was more than 4C. This sounds really stupid but the only common denominator I can find is that this fault happened on cold (below 4c) days! I collected the car 7th Oct and the first time it happened was a frosty day in Nov. Could it be connected to the automatic switch on of cold weather features? Daft I know but trying to find a logical explanation. Glad to see Pete has encountered it, I like his posts and I'm not far away in Darlington, looking to the chance to buy the software adaptations he's previewing!

I haven't been able to put my finger on the cause as there appears to be nothing routine to it.
I turn off the ignition, lock the car, unlock and restart and lo and behold phone is paired up.
Interested to hear if anyone has any developments and success

I had trouble with my htc touch diamond not pairing properly, it would occasionally pair and drop out and the call history menus didn't work though the address book usually did. I upgraded the ROM in teh phone to the latest Vodafone allows and got the full history menus onto the car touch screen and no more drop-outs of pairing. This lasted for a couple of months until 3 days ago. Now I can't get them to pair at all and I can't find a reason after much trial and error. Same on my HTC touch diamond 2. Worked fine to start. Then would not pair & drop in and out while on the phone.
I re download the latest firmware to the phone and has been fine for 3 months. But again no longer have the call register.
Just waiting for the phone book then pairing to drop again.
Mark.

I have now swapped my htc touch diamond for an iPhone 3GS. At first the iPhone was perfect with immediate pairing and full functionality, ie call history as well as phonebook.
But yesterday it failed to pair at all, the phone could not detect the car. It is not possible to know whether the car detected the phone as there is no application for it.
Is there anywhere in diagnostics which shows what bluetooth is doing?2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

I am finding that for some odd reason the Bluetooth pairing now works more often than not (Blackberry . Until recently it was the other way around! So it's going in the right direction ...
I have a Blackberry 9000 with software v4.6.0.303 - address book works fine.Paul
