Price for Wranglers?

Checked out the difference between the mass market (kwik fit) and a local tyre company.

Goodyear Wrangler 255/60/18 112v XL for £179 at kwik-fit!!! Plus an additional £8 per (old) tyre for disposal Shocked Little change out of £750 for four bits of rubber there. Evil or Very Mad

£125.00 each fitted all-in at my local independent dealer Razz

Also got a price for AT2s at the same rate.........

Are there no less mainstream manufacturers than Goodyear etc. who may charge less?

We were quoted £106.00 for AT2s for the F1 by the local tyre company today but instead have gone for Colway ATs which are £37.00 a corner and very highly rated on the Freelander forum for what they are Shocked

Sorry CY, Colways are remoulds and I wouldn't run my D3 on such poor rubber.

Would you wear a previously used condom.......? Wink

They're fine for the Freelander though admittedly perhaps not up to D3 standards Wink

Put another way, why spend £40k on a motor and then £40 on a tyre. Confused It's the only thing you have in contact with the tarmac as you go round that new bend on the A80 towards Kirkliston at illegal speeds....... Whistle

Whistle The £40k car has proper boots (new set of Wrangler HPs) whilst the £5k runabout which doddles around in town and the odd Scottish green road or driving day needs something appropriately cheap but more durable (excuse the continued condom connotations) than the standard wheels. They also give a 30mm lift (and again) which the Freelander really needs.

I don't think £106.00 is the price for a 255/60x18 General AT2, must be for another size, our price is £128.07 inc VAT fitted and we have stock. Rolling Eyes Mail order is cheeper though. We do have four Goodyear Wrangler HP's @ £117.50 inc VAT fitted each.

I think CY mentioned that this was for the F1 (Freelander)

Whilst this beats my local chap by £7.50 per tyre, I think the 1200 mile round trip from Aberdeen to Surrey and back might make a severe dent in that saving....... Rolling Eyes Wink
