The radio in my D3 wasn't too bad but could have been better reception! However the D4 I have No complaints at all! Hardon Kardo sound is GOOD and so is the radio reception now!

Must say I think the Logic 7 system in my D3 HSE is pretty good- test drove a D4 XS demonstrator which was OK, but tried my iPod in a D4 HSE on the forecourt and it had kickass sound IMHO. One of the reasons why I'm going for a D4 HSE over the XS.... As well as the other goodies you kinda get used to

Not listened to D4 sounds but had D3 HSE for a time with premium audio and that was pretty good - better than a 2007 Audi A6 with Bose (which was pants to start with until I got an ICE specialist to check over - he installed an improved power cable which brought a major improvement).
Home audio is Linn / Naim so I am used to decent sound.
If you can find a decent ICE specialist, it should be possible to get it checked over for defects / tweaked, which may help

I'm pretty happy with the premium sound system in my D4 HSE.
I've had lots of "premium" cars with Bose, HK, etc and this equals any of them. Paul

I live in Rapperswil and have a 06 FFRR with the Logic 7 Soundsystem. (14 speakers/ 710 watts)
tell me if you like to compare. I think the D4 should sound better. But I dont know... Never really sat in a D4.

I have no complaints - 'tis better than the D3 as everything rattles less. Listened to some high volume Kylie last week on the way down the M3 from Heathrow and it was all perfick......had blood running out of my ears my the A303 - so it is certainly loud if not hi-fidelity!

I didn't buy my D4 for the HiFi experience.
Just about all OEM systems have serious limitations. The HK system in my Mini Cooper Diesel is a far better system than the D4's audio. Discovery 4 SE Long range fuel tank Kaymar Rear Bar.

I have no complaints about the HK system in my MY2012 HSE
Very impressive (as it should be for the price )
Loud, clear and loud.
Did I mention it was loud?
Hello?
I said it's LOU.... oh never mind!
Eh?

Unnecessary quote removed
Yes dito - my XS Commercial (ex-UK) has great hi-fi sounds - OK low frequency classical music can be hard to hear but everything else is fine especially my favourite group Libera (www.libera.org.uk). 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial
2019 Discovery 5 HSE

Loud does not equal good.
I'm yet to buy a D4 but the one I test drove with the midrange HiIce system was very average in my opinion. You can't beat good quality aftermarket systems. Which is what I'm currently planning so I know what audio system would be easiest to upgrade.
Anyone been through this and have any suggestions???

I have a D4 with the premium sound system and as you say, it's anything but premium. Dealer carried out a software upgrade which improved things a little, but still below average sound.
