Just to add to the puzzle of the varying specs around the world.
My “SE†here in Ireland, has no leather, just cloth manual adjustable seats, no Xenons, & the tow bar is an accessory fit or factory option.
We do have the HK 6cd System, & the powerfold mirrors.
I’m not sure if the locking diff, is even an option here !!
But possibly most annoying of all, is despite the fact than the car is sold as an “SE†it only comes with an “S†badge.
So a quick word with my dealer sorted that out & I have my “SE†badge !
It would seem that by far the most well spec’d cars are in the UK, everywhere else there seems to be quite a few differences.

Have taken the dash apart looking at how to do this, but by the looks of things there would be soldering to be done on the pc board, so I am not too keen. There are some retrofits available, but I would rather have the "factory" look and feel. There is a post somewhere else about the heated seats retrofit. We can survive without it really, 'cos our "winter" is only about 3 months long

Rear diff lock is a bonus though.
They must have really screwed up your order. Which side do you drive from
The left.... right. I mean right! He he he.
Considering it gives me the cabin pre-cool function, I don't really mind. I believe my TD4 Freelander had one as well. It does bring the engine up to operating temp much quicker.... Well it did on my Freelander, anyway. I'll probably use it when we go to the farm, which is in the Kosciuzko NP. I use the seat heaters all the time.
Haven't had a chance to use the difflock yet though.

I was let into a secret by a dealer recently (not that secret, as I guessed it was what was happening, but it confirms it). When an Irish HSE arrives in Ireland at the dealers, it has a 'SE' badge on the back. The Irish dealer then orders in a HSE badge, and replaces it. The Irish HSE spec is exactlly the same as the UK SE spec. The Irish SE seems to be the UK S, except with the standard sat nav added as an option. In the past, sometimes the replacement badges have been out of stock so the cars are handed over to the customer with the wrong badge on the back.
The locking rear diff is available as an option on all D3 models here. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!
