Possible purchase question

Hi,

After a longtime away from D4 ownership I’m looking at getting another one. It’s approved used and checking the MOT history it has a couple of advisories, one re the discs which LR are sorting and the other is this, which they are refusing to do:

Nearside Front Inner Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement rear (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Any idea why the MOT would pick this up but it is acceptable to LRs high quality 165 point check? Also, what is the cost to fix it (and the offside of course).

Perhaps the 165 point check isn't worth the ink it's written with?

Yep, that’s my thought and the sales person struggled to explain how the ‘high quality 165 point check’ didn’t pick it up but the MOT did.....Keen to understand the cost of the fix as a negotiating point. PRH

I'd just phone the dealer and ask for a quote from the Service Department for the work and then ask for that to be taken off the price by the sales department Must stop buying shiny toys....

the 165 point check isn't worth the paper its written on IMO.
My local dealer sold me an approved Evoque, I picked up a few minor issues on test drive which hadn't even been touched when I went to pick it up the worst of which was the lack of a service which was indicating as due.
When they did service it over a month later, it resulted in a new transfer box and new gearbox being fitted under warranty by another main dealer who stated it had been badly repaired after a quite serious accident.
The supplying dealer refused to agree in spite of written evidence by the 2nd dealer and pressure from LRCS.

I don't think I will ever buy another over priced approved LR 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Independent to do the job is £600, LR is £800 - in both cases to replace the arms not faff with the bushes. The dealer is saying he hasn't got that much in the car to be able to do it.

Am I right in thinking the RRS arms fit and are more robust?

Ive got some RRS HD rear upper arms waiting ready to be fitted to my D4 on Tuesday. Arrived in Mehle branded box but are Delphi parts.

Bought from site sponsor Advanced Factors for £227 including the fitting kit delivered next day. LR wanted £230 a side without fitting kit.
Reckoned to be about 3-4 hours labour to fit both sides.

Have a look at advanced factors as their website is clear if RRS parts will fit.
