POSSIBLE GEAR BOX FAULT
HI EVERY ONE ON THE DISCO 3 FORUM , DO YOU THINK I HAVE A FAULT WITH MY CLUTCH/GEARBOX WHEN SELECTING ANY GEAR IN LOW RATIO THE CAR MOVES FORWARD A COUPLE OF INCHES IT WAS DO-ING THE SAME IN HIGH RATIO SO THE DEALER CHANGE THE MASTER CYLINDER ITS STOPPED DOING IT IN HIGH BUT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME IN LOW ANYBODY GOT ANY THOUGHTS WHAT THE FAULT MAY BE, OR IS THIS THE NORM IN LOW RATIO THANKS IN ADVANCE BAZ.
First thing to do is take your cap lock off!Loving the power of the TDV8!

How do you mean moves forward ?
When you select Low range the gearbox is in neutral.
When changing gear the D3 will continue to pull as soon as the clutch bites - due to the torque.
Not quite seeing what you mean.
Assuming yours is a manual 'S' according to your profile. If not then you need an auto box chappie to get their head round it

Yep, both of mine have done this - although if you're driving correctly (offroad) you should have your foot on the brake until you reach the bite point of the clutch
The reason this behaviour happens is that the torque transmitted through the layshaft during synchronisation of the gears is enough to move the vehicle in low ratio slightly

thanks for your input on that ,the reason i was concerned is i first noted this on the high ratio it moved forward when i selected first gear the dealer said it was a faulty master cylinder, is this a common fault with new disco"s ? just to change the theme what engine oil are you guys useing it says 5/30 or oils to ab4 spec

You can buy oil for the TDV6 from your dealer at pretty reasonable prices.
