Portugal here we come......
The Wife and I are off to Portugal tomorrow for 2 weeks of off roading. We’re leaving from Portsmouth going to Santander, then stopping at Tordesillas in Spain for Saturday night. Sunday we head to Sagres in southern Portugal, and then spend the 2 weeks making our way up the coast/mountains etc.
I’ve done a little maintenance on the D3 since our outing in the Pyrenees last year, so hopefully she should be pretty good now.
Mileage 101,875 1st June 2014
New Oil Pump/casing
New Crankshaft Bolt
New Cambelt (I had recently done the whole belt change, but as I now changed the oil pump casing I didn’t want to put the old belt back on.)
New Cambelt Tensioner bolt
New Oil Filter
New Air Filter
New Fuel Filter
New Cabin Air Filter
New Engine Oil
New Front & Rear diff oil
New Horns
New Alternator
All 8 wishbones media blasted and painted.
All 8 wishbone bushes replaced with Polybush Orange.
New Rear Tie Rods
New Rear Anti Roll Bar Bushes (Polybush Orange)
New Rear Anti Roll Bar Links
New Rear Wheel Bearings
New Rear Ball Joints, upper and lower
New Rear Splash Guards
New Rear Air Suspension Struts
New Rear Valve Block
New Reservoir Valve Block
New Front Anti Roll Bar Bushes (Polybush Orange)
New Front Anti Roll Bar Links
New Front Ball Joints, upper and lower
New Front Tie Rod ends, Arms and Gaiters
New Front Air Suspension Struts
New Front Valve Block
New AMK Compressor
Thanks to Steve at Advanced Motor Factors for supplying nearly all the above parts, including all the extra nuts and bolts which are just too numerous to count.
Mileage 102,105 11th August 2014
4 Wheel alignment
Mileage 102,433 21th August 2014
Gearbox Flush
Thanks to Geoff. For the gearbox flush, and for the free lunch and pint down your local.
Thanks to Brendan at 4x4Overlander for giving me a good deal on the Foxwing, then helping me out after I broke the hinges after installation.

We don't do the whole inclusive thing, as we don't like people/crowds and like to get away from it all.

Yep, get on fine with the wife. She loves the whole offroad camping thing, and is strongly trying to persuade me to buy her a Defender. I’m not sure I have the patience to look after 2 Land Rover’s.

!! enjoy your new old D3 !!!
as I can see, you will sleep in Tordesillas, I imagine that you go directly to south of the ferry to the old warm Castilla ... shame they do not follow along the northern sea route ... because you would pass for my dear region called Asturias..with high mountains ... (called Picos de Europa) and extremely green and very close to the furious Cantabric sea ( south Celtic Sea )...I think that you'd be surprised ... it´s the most beautiful region of Spain and quite unknown ... and especially ..you would travel more cooler .....
lost in translation!

Good choice of stopover, we always stay at 'camping el astral' in Tordesillas.
