Poorly Disco - seized park brake.
Had to have my Disco carted off to the stealers today because the park brake had seized on.
Had the RAC out and they freed it off with the release catch under the centre console but then I used it once more and then it seized again although I was told that it shouldn’t once the manual release catch has been pull.
Luckily the insurance covers the breakdown and recovery and hopefully the extended warranty will cover most of the getting it sorted.
Sad day 😩

Once the manual has been pulled I’m pretty sure it becomes unlatched and pulling the switch just makes it worse.

It happened to me a few months after I got my second-hand D4. As I’d got it from a dealer, I was covered by LR Approved and they sent the AA. Guy freed it with the manual cable but said to go straight to a LR dealer and not switch off - that would re-engage the brake and the problem would return.
All sorted under warranty.

Not sure about the cable reengaging, guy from RAC told me that once released it doesn’t reengage and you basically drove around without having a handbrake until it’s sorted.
As for the recovery, it took two attempts to get it loaded onto a tow truck. 1st guy couldn’t move it & the 2nd guy took 2 hours to get it loaded because of the brake seizures.

Happened to me x2.
Both times, I taped the lever up so I physically couldn’t pull it on. (Easier than pulling the fuse whilst on holiday in the lakes - where it weirdly happened both times) and carried a suitable shaped stone to use as a chock when parked on a slope (like my drive) to save potential damage to the auto box pawl whilst in park. Got away with a repair both times rather than new actuator (no warranty) as, according to the Indy, I hadn’t tried to use it again. Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
