Please help!!! Coolant problem.

Hi guys, this forum looks amazing!
I have a d3 and have had this problem since I purchased it 5 months ago.
The coolant level warning keeps coming up and the expansion tank is completely empty! We have changed the thermostat, water pump, tank cap, bled system and replaced expansion tank to no avail. Its pressurising and forces the coolant out of the cap. It only seems to happen when you go out of town and maybe to higher speeds! At present I’m thinking maybe egr valves or head gasket, hopefully not the latter! I am scared to go anywhere in it at present incase it overheats and I am stuck! Please shed some light guys!
Kind regards

Hi and welcome

ISTR a thread about a bad fitting/incompatible cap to expansion tank, which brand cap/tank did you buy?

Have a go with the "search" button you may find it or someone will be along to point in the right direction

Thanks for your reply, I got the cap from LR along with the tank so this shouldn’t be an issue.

Hi,
should be good then but if you get the chance may be worth trying another cap though Whistle

don't know if this will help but if you "search" expansion tank rad cap I just got 4 results and have a read of the "coolant loss again sorry" one, it also links to another thread on the last post.

Just read through that post, sounds just like my problem but Ron never said if he got to the bottom of his problem and if it was the egr valves/coolers. The cap is a week old so I would like to think it’s all good.
Thanks again
Liam
