Hi, does the radio have to be on aux setting for the Bluetooth streaming to work? Or does it just cut in over the radio when you press play?

As its using the LR cabling it must be told to use Aux if you want to stream audio - its feeding
via the Aux circuit

I had a 7 before I got my 11. With the adapter that came in the box they both work but as stated, phone volume has to be on max and the stereo needs pumping up too. To get the best from the relaxing tunes of Korn the radio ends up on 27 to 30. Just remember to turn it down incase you don't use the phone and go straight to radio!

For iPhones to get the maximum level at the Aux input make sure the EU Volume Limit is off.
To check this is the case go to Settings > Music > Volume Limit > and turn "EU Volume Limit" off if it is on.

I cam across this company recently , simple plug and play , directly into the head unit via the CD player socket/plug.
Beefy aux cables not tiny jack plug.
Fit the loom and then if you want Bluetooth rather than just a jack plug connection , their BT module connects into the loom.
Looks like a simple and relatively cheap answer to reliable BT streaming with decent sound quality.

i decided to go down the bluetooth route and brought this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075SW...&psc=1

i have mine mounted in the air vent to the left of the steering wheel and the cables can be run behind the dash trim down and under the trim along the gearbox tunnel to the aux socket and cig lighter behind the cubby box, the cable is long enough to do this so no extra cables or joints required
