Pirelli Scorpion AT plus

They're here:

Quote:
The new Scorpion™ All Terrain Plus is designed to deliver high off-road performance even on difficult surfaces: rocks, snow, mud, grass and sand. The new aggressive tread pattern design and its robust carcass make the new Scorpion™ All Terrain Plus the perfect choice to travel for long distances without compromising safety and comfort on the road. Thanks to its specifically designed tread pattern, it is able to evacuate water, mud, and stones. The sipes inserted inside the tread blocks deliver high levels of grip on slippery surfaces. The new Scorpion™ All Terrain Plus is suitable also on tough off-road conditions, thanks to its reinforced sidewall and the shape and dimensions of its blocks. The new Scorpion™ All Terrain Plus also features both the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake and the M+S marking.

Designed to appeal to those who want "tough looking" tyres. The ATR is still available, I don't know if the AT plus is a replacement for it, I'm guessing it probably is.

Will give them a go when I need to replace the ATRs I put on recently. Just don’t expect a report for a few years. Whistle

I've got new ATR's on the rear, fitted about 1200 miles ago, just about to buy two for the front. That'll be me sorted for the next 50k miles Smile

I hope these newbies will be as tough and long lasting.

They've not long been available here and were only launched in the US last year, so I've not heard any reports from users yet. There's the odd video on YouTube from US owners, but nothing worth posting.

According to the standard label, economy E, wet weather E, noise B. So they look nice, but not very good in the wet?

Then thats' not so good. Shame because they do look nice but safety is import and , not that I drive at break neck speeds you understand but braking distance is always important as you never know what may pull out in front or break quickly. I'll be re thinking

I think that's the same rating as most of the more aggressive tread pattern AT tyres. Such as the GGAT3 for example:

https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/gen...11h-600891

One reason why I'm a big fan of the Scorpion ATR is that they don't have such an aggressive pattern, but combined with the All Terrain Response System of the D3/4/5 they can cope superbly off-road and behave brilliantly on the road.

Same here, does exactly what I want without the drawbacks of more aggressive rubber. Thumbs Up

The AT Plus is winter rated which may be something to consider if you need winter ability without changing wheels/tyres twice a year. I would expect it would be better in mud than the ATR (video above notwithstanding) as it has a more open tread. If these two things aren't that important then the ATR would be a better choice - providing one can find them. Supply is one of the reasons I use the GG AT3 rather than the ATR. That and winter rating/ability.

One of the things I don't know about the EU tyre labels is when assessing braking and aquaplaning do they do this at a summer temperature? If so, the winter rated tyres might be better half the year when temps are lower. Likewise fuel rating - the winter tyres will be worse in warm testing than in the cooler temps at which they work better than non-winter rated tyres.

I just purchased 2 Scorpion ATR's from Asda tyres

https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/255-55-19

delivered to a local tyre fitter who fitted them - all in price. Might just have been lucky but there didn't seem to be a supply problem.

Good point, I'm not sure of the test strategy to get these ratings. Something to find out today! Thumbs Up
