Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres - replacement recommendations

I have had Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres fitted on my 2008 D3 for a few years now and have been really happy with them. They also lasted around 50k miles, but the time has come to start looking for replacements. These tyres are not available anymore - at least I can't find any in 255/60 R18. I believe they have been replaced with the Pirelli Scorpion AT+, and these are over £175 each.

I have also seen several posts stating the Pirelli Scorpion AT+ are different to the older ATR model, but what are these differences please?

I would welcome any other recommendations too please. I mostly drive on the road, but I do go in fields and on tracks from time to time, and the Scorpion ATRs suited me very well. Thanks.

Hi,

believe the new ones are 3mpsf rated for winter use which the older ones were not and if you were happy with the ATR's before and the mileage you had out of them pay the bit extra now over the life of the tyre it may well be better Value

The AT+ are a softer compound and don't seem to wear as well. Mine have been on for about 35,000 miles and are ready for a change, although there is still about 5mm of tread left. They are significantly noisier than ATR, similar to Duratrac.
In fact, apart from not wearing so well, they are very much like Duratrac in design.

Should be c.£10-£20 per tyre for fitting and balancing.

I am in the same process, but specifically to go from a magnificent Michelin Latitude Cross to the Pirelli AT + is this very moment , and I see, with surprise, that you still you use the EU Label Summary!! 🤔

Just wondering what you did in the end / are doing?

I'm in exactly the same position and don't know what to go for as can't find ATR's anywhere.

I have the AT+ on my RRS currently. I have used the Grabber AT3 too. Both good AT tyres, both winter rated. Haven't noticed a noise issue with either - the previous Grabber AT got quite noisy as it wore by comparison.

Both work well on road although I'd say the Grabber AT3 is the better road tyre. Also works well off road - a worn set did the Strata Florida and other routes on a 2 day Wales trip a couple of years ago, plus they've been down to Les Comes in northern Spain. Good on the drive down/back, good on the off road tracks.
