What is this pipe for??

Hi all

Just been poking around under the bonnet having had the Restricted Performance message on and off for the last few days P006A-00 (27) Manifold absolute pressure - mass or volume air flow correlation (many thanks to Dorian for reading the codes).

I found a loose braided pipe on the right hand side of the engine (from the front) with smoke (exhaust?) coming out. I can’t get it to push back into the fitting as the hole is very small. The pipe routes across the engine and into a similar fitting on the opposite side. Anyone know what the pipe is for and if it is likely to have anything to do with the error message. I’ve no idea how long it has been off for! I virtually never look under the engine cover and only did this time looking for split pipes etc! I’d already cleaned the MAF and MAP sensors and wd40’d the CSOV actuator.

Just had a look on mine and it appears to be a breather system, one pipe from each inlet manifold to a T Piece that attaches to a black plastic box in the middle at the back of the vee. A larger pipe then exits this box down the back of the engine, but can't see where.

Looking at your picture i think it should be attached to the elbow on the right.

Any air leak could give you issues so good place to start. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies.

It would be nice if the solution is as simple as reconnecting the pipe although I have a horrible feeling it won't! I still can't get the pipe back into the elbow as it has no rigidity.

I haven't heard about the oil pipe problem before - something else to look at!

Cheers
