"Pinking Engine"

I have noticed a noise when my 2010 D4 3.0 Diesel is accelerating hard, I can only describe it has a "Pinking" noise that I've heard on petrol engines in the past with incorrect timing ect,

It is only on the initial full power or kick down and goes once the car is up to speed, is this normal ? any thoughts welcome Thumbs Up

Yes, quite normal I would suggest. Mine does it, as have all the others (about 10 - towing large caravans and accelerating hard) I've driven. If you listen to videos of ones accelerating hard, you can hear it.

I totally agree (well, diesel) I stopped using supermarket fuel and the engine sounds much better. I found shell the best. No more pinking/rattling
