Hi
I opened my rear passenger door this morning, but hadn’t realized that that there was ice on the side step. When I closed the door, the ice was sitting proud and resulted in the black trim on the door popping off - well, half-off. The trim is still attached at the wheel arch, but I can’t for the life of me see how the trim fits back on. Nothing seems broken, but I just don’t see if something is missing.
Is there an idiot’s guide to this sort of thing?

My rusting sidesteps did same thing ... but not "off enough" to force me to do anything about it yet. .

First time on this site when the advice has been useless.
I asked for the idiot's guide - why did none of you say "Try fixing it in the daylight."?
Honestly, I thought you lot were experts.
Fixed - and now wondering how I can get the original question deleted and have everyone who saw my stupidity writ large get their memories wiped....
Just hope none of my pupils look at this site.

No cost at all ... except pride/embarrassment obviously.
