Picked My new D4 up
Went to the dealers yesterday to pick up my new D4, wasn't expected until the 1st of June but came early. Popped over to the lakes yesterday to give it a run and loved it, the new 8 speed box is just so smooth I was also surprised just how easy it is to get used to using the shiny knob Went out again this morning to take some photos and it just comes naturally now. Overall very impressed with it.
A couple of photos from this morning.

Cheers Guys
APL how do you go about getting a trip to watch them build these things?
Micky, the Grabbers will be going back on but I'm trying to find a newer set of alloys to put them on, I really like the 2011 HSE alloys but there doesn't seem to be many of them about for sale Cheers Ian

You will need to specifically request a T5 line tour. Mine was on a Monday afternoon and I had the tour to myself!
However be quick, as I was told there are going to be times this year where it will not be possible to view the T5 line (this often happens when they start to build something which has something new in it - could it be the hybrid engines?)
As it was there were vehicles covered up in black tarpaulins there which I was quickly ushered past.....!
Well worth it though - a darn good afternoon experience and not expensive either TBH!2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Sounds really great and I would love to do it but the 500 mile round trip is a bit of an obstacle, although I got a LRE voucher from the salesman when I picked the car up and I've done the Skipton centre 3 times now so I may see if I can maybe book an experience at say Eastnor (the salesman recommended it) and do the tour on the same day and maybe stop over somewhere. Sounds like a plan Cheers Ian

Nice colour Stealer had one similar when I chose mine but decided on the Firenze.
Trip to the production line is well worth it. I went a few years back with a group from the D3 Forum, as it was then. Good chance to meet people and also see the vehicles being built. From what other people said you get very close to production compared with other factory tours, we were having to time our passage to miss huge spot welding sparks flying around.

I can highly recommend http://travellersinn.org.uk/ if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Birmingham area, close to the M5....
Ferret, we were given high vis yellow jackets and safety glasses for the Body in White area where the welding takes place, but it is rather spectacular seeing the sparks! And earplugs for the body pressing plant, which was making D4 front outer door panels when we went through!2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Very nice D4 ....
... pity you ditched it in that second pic
Is that same shade of blue as before & what's wrong with current rims?...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
< ‘tis but a mere scratch …….. it’ll polish out.

Yes Ron it is the same, it's Baltic Blue. There is nothing wrong with the new rims, it's just I would like a spare set of alloys so I have at's on one set and the GY Wranglers on the other, also keeps the new rims in good condition so they don't get scratched when off road. If I could get a spare set of those rims at the right price I would be happy.Cheers Ian
