Phone Integration - Phones That Can Be Used |
|
First of all, my apologies if this has already been discussed. I have searched and can find no information on this site or the LR Owner Site.
What phones can be plugged into the cradle? It seems to me that there is a lot of information available on blue tooth connection but no apparent listing of phones to physically plug in.
I will soon be re-newing my phone contracts and want to take advantage of the charging, external aerial and phone book which is not available on BT.
Regards
Chris

Hi Slimer,
Those lists appear to be the blue tooth compatible phones. What I want is the phones that are capable of being plugged into the car. I guess this would be accompanied by a list of the respective cradle part numbers.
In the accessories catalogue it says refer to garage. I have not found a garage who have any idea!
Regards
Chris

Best bet is to ask a competent dealer what cradles are currently available then, ask the parts guy to see what he can order is probably easiest The End

Also I have a feeling that LR are moving away from cradles as phones change too fast for them to keep up... well LR are not renowned for being speedy eh
Bluetooth will be the preferred method of connection.

Hi Simon,
Only really any good if you can use the phone book. I would not even mind if I had to enter it manually. Not too sure though as one of my phones has about 2000 contacts!

2000 contacts At last soemone who has more than me.
I agree that I woudl ike to have the address book functionality of the cradle but there only a very few phones that work. Yeovil LR advertise the ones for the Nokia 6xxx series regularly.

Sometimes I wish it was only 2000!
I also carry an Ipaq with the remainder of the 15,000 people I deal with!

Phonebook transfer over Bluetooth will be in the MY08 build like in Freelander 2. Veerrry slow to copy though and I only have 600 ish contacts in my phone, so gave up trying.
So new owners after April 30th will be OK.

When I asked at LR dealer a couple of weeks ago, the list of phones for which cradles are available was as follows:
Nokia: 6100 6220 6230 3100 6820
Sony Ericsson: T610
Siemens: 545
I was also told that basically LR had 'given up' trying to keep up with the phones that are released.
Also, I gather software update / enabling may be required (6230i?)
Dave Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

In the French manual there is the list of the telephone that can be connected by bluetooth and via the cradle (with the reference for the cradle) I don’t found this list in the English version
Nokia : Cradle for all Nokia supported: XVE500020
3100, 6100,6220 ==> cradle only
6230, 6230i, 6820 ==> cradle or Bluetooth
Siemens: Cradle XVE500050
S545 ==> cradle only
Sony Ericsson: Cradle XVE500040
T610 ==> cradle only
I have ordered the cradle for Nokia and will by the Nokia 6230i for my Lady "Lady": Discovery 3 HSE Seven TDV6 Tonga Green.
Options : Automatic Gearbox, Premium navigation system, Personal telephone integration system, Park distance control front, Powerfold exterior mirrors, Sunroof plus Alpine roof, Lower centre console cooler box, Cold climate pack, Full size spare wheel.

Now I understand why the dealers plead ignorance!
The list of phones is so small and very old that they do not want to admit it! Just stating there are lots of phones but not sure where the list is! That was from three different dealers!
Not sure what you mean Ken by the Multi Sim, but will look at other posts you have done.
I just want to get away from the two phones I have to carry around at the moment. We have Parrot CK31's in our other vehicles which solves all the problems with directories as they allow full access to every phones directory stored in the Parrot. The LR dealers told me that you could use multiple phones with the in built kit. I even asked what they meant as I am aware with the Parrot that you can store multiple phones but only one can be blue tooth connected at a time. The LR dealers said the D3 kit would allow you to have multiple phones and whichever one rung you could answer it. Even after I questioned them they still insisted that this could be done. And of course it cannot. So I need to get back to one phone which I am doing with T Mobile hopefully in June.
If there is a way of getting the directories stored then I need to work that out.
Regards
Chris

If anyone wants a cradle for the 6230 drop me a pm. NOW SOLD (to Mounty) I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
