Phew, but what a day for it to happen!!! |
|
So this morning snow, first time since owning my D3. SWMBO concerned driving to work so the D3 to the rescue of course. Very hard icy roads, temperature below freezing, well -1! But very cold for a southerner!!
Got her to work safely no issue, get back to see Low Washer Fluid level, simple job to top up of course, then arghhhhh. Notice oil on drive, pop head under bumper and look, oil from front passenger radiator area down to gearbox. quick feel, smell and yep seems to be transmission fluid .
So recovered to local indi expecting the worst, pipes or cooler issues, then relief sets in from call, found the issue, loose connection to bottom of cooler, clip tightened, 2 liters of fluid added, road tested and all good a mere £200 lighter, recovery covered by roadside assistance
Recovered at 10.00 back by 15.00 phew

Yep a result as did have planned a 100+ mile journey, could have fried the gearbox, apparently, so I have heard, they do like to have fluid in them!
