Hi,
Two days ago I was going to buy Disco 3 till a friend of mine sent me this website link...
I've spent several hours reading hundreds of posts with description of thousands of problems and now I have only one question: "IS THERE ANY REASON ON THE EARTH TO BUY DISCO?!"

I'll let the praise roll in - there are many many very good reasons to buy a D3 - the problems are minor compared to the capability and good points 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Hundreds of good reasons.
It's human nature to moan about problems but rarely mention the good times. They are mentioned here if you look hard enough.
Personally I can't praise the D3 enough, it's a brilliant vehicle, best one I've ever had by a long way. Yes, I've had a few minor issues but they've been quickly resolved and I still can't drive it without grinning

Have a look in the gallery... there's plenty of photo's of Disco3's doing what they do best, you'll also find many owners (myself included) passing the same or similar comment as yourself prior to ownership. What you won't see very much is comments such as " i've just driven 1000 KM through the most inhospitable terrain and fast roads without any problems at all" - it's not news, but there are polls such as:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.ph...poll#32070
and
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1065
which show that most of those who responded are more than happy
go on, you know you want to

This vehicle is a vault on wheels!!! Driving throught inclement weather, it is composed and confidence inspiring. Driving off-road, the vehicle is also extremely capable and civilized! This vehicle is also very multi-talented, can wheel in the extremes and bring you back in extreme comfort!!!
I only had one incident(Special Programs Unavalable - Engine System Fault Error) when I drove into a pretty large pile of snow @ 50+MPH Cured in about 60 seconds with a restart!
ALR 2005 Tonga Green Land Rover LR3(Yes I wheel it!!!)
2002 Shale Green Jeep WranglerX(Yes I wheel it!!!)
1994 Red Jeep Cherokee (Use it as a spare vehicle)
DO IT! DO IT NOW!!!

My Impressions after 8 years with an unburstable Landcruiser |
|
I had a Disco 1 V8 which was truly an absolute disaster on wheels, as a car fanatic ( I currently have 3 ) the Disco 1 experience concerned me so deeply that I gave up cars for 2 years entirely, when I got rid of it. Then I bought a TD Toyota Landcruiser which was faultless for 8 years and was even worth 1/3 of the new price at resale. Now I have a Disco TDV6 HSE and apart from a few small niggles, LR3 its a class act, well worth the money

I am sure that if there were websites such as this for other model specific cars there would be similar posts about problems owners have with their cars.
If we all hated our Disco3's so much because of problems we would not be posting on here but would be back to our dealers demanding our money back!
It's a great car end of Zermatt silver 06 reg.
Gone but not forgotten !!!

The muscles on the side of my face are starting to seriously ache due to the permanent smile I’ve had since taking delivery 7 days ago. What a fantastic car. Would I recommend one? No, I’m too selfish! D3 gone for now

I, like yourself, had issue's after finding this forum. However I'm sooooo! glad I found this site after I had ordered mine Because I may also have questioned my purchase!
It has snowed here over the last 2 days ------- wow what a car! with lesser mortals struggling in the 2 inces of snow this thing (sorry Beauty) is incredible.
My BMW is looking at me with little chance of use.
Roll on the Alps is all I can say. Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"

I agree with you that if there would be a website dedicated to MB or Alfa we could find tons of trouble messages.
But from the other hand... Two years ago I bought Toyota Land Cruiser and I still know only two things about this car: how to start the engine and fill the tank. I have not heard anything about:
- Suspension Errors
- Compressor
- Electronics
- Cruise Control
- Gearbox and Transmission
- Paint and Trim
- Low Coolant Warning
And, frankly speaking, I do not want to...

So why not buy another Landcruiser? a perfectly capable vehicle with japanese reliablity and japanese depreciation.
The 2 things I've noticed since owning my D3:
1, TD5 owners stare at it, knowing that their next car will be a D3.
2, Jap 4x4 owners try to ignor it, maybe because the D3 is everything their car isn't -------- an awsome car, oh and the very best 4x4! Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"

Absolutely! As a TD5 owner I turn green when I see a D3 and have been known to foam at the mouth! Buy one.
