Personal reg plate reduces insurance cost....

renewal in for car insurance at £240 or so

Logged into my insurance comparative site of choice and refreshed existing details already stored there for today's date and got quote of £201.21 so the usual rigmarole of being able to better your renewal quote Rolling Eyes

However I've just put a personal reg' plate on the car and also noticed that I hadn't got 'commuting' option ticked and also upped the annual mileage as doing a few more miles in the car now.

Expected that the 'increased risk' of occasional commuting and more miles per annum to maybe add a few quid to the price but it came back at £190.68.

Can only think that the algorithm's used by the site has assumed the car is now older (it's an '11' plate I've put on the car, replacing it's real age plate of a '13')

I had the renewal last year for my motorcycles and called to tell them about the 6 points in that year plus the speed awareness course. Busy year.
The premium went down which was weird.
The explanation given was that the underwriters constantly review their risk across the portfolio leading to a reduced premium From when they sent the renewal out
