Permanently turn Stop-Start off? (IID may be?)

Firstly it’s very annoying but then when I turn it off I have a distracting big orange symbol in front of me, previous cars would just have the button itself glowing which I could easily ignore.

Is it possible to permanently turn it off?

I thought it may be possible using the IID Tool but I couldn’t see it anywhere…

Thanks!

To be honest, my 2015 very rarely has the stop start working, it all depends on the battery and I'm assuming that the winter usage (lights, heated everything etc...) means that it doesn't really work at the moment.

I do use the 'off' switch though on occasions, and I can see how it would be annoying in the summer having to use this all the time

I think the answer to your question though is 'No' don't think you can switch off with the IID tool - but more knowledgeable people should be along soon with an answer Laughing

Thanks

It’s not that I mind especially having to turn it off, just the annoyingly bright orange symbol now right in front of me.

Coincidentally though a local garage connected their proper diagnostic laptop thingy a few weeks back when I first looked into the FBH remote/timer settings (prior to really knowing about the IID Tool) and there was an option there to turn the stop-start off – which we did, but it didn’t work, I just put this down to perhaps not possibly having saved the setting though as we were jumping in and out of all the screens.

So it may possibly be able, but just not with the IID Tool.

I think this has been asked before and it was something GAP were investigating. I can imagine its a pain and would have thought, in time that there would be a way to remove the error on the dash Thumbs Up

I turned it off with the IID Tool but I can't remember how now that I want to put it back on again!

I've learnt to use it for my benefit and now rarely find it annoying.

For example if I know a red light is due to change shortly I leave enough gap between the vehicle in front of me to creep very slowly forward. Conversely, if the lights have just changed to red, I'll allow it to switch off and wait for the vehicle in front to start moving before letting the engine spark up again.

No can't be turned off with the IID tool currently. GAP say they are planning to do this in the future, but have had that position for a long time now so maybe proving harder than they thought.

Can you not just disconnect the second battery or does that still bring up the orange light?

isn't the stop/start part of the eurorubbish that gives it a lower road tax - if so turning it permanently off could be road tax evasion?
