permanent 12volt to rear socket (centre console) |
|
As the subject says, I want a permanent 12volt supply to the rear cigar lighter in the back of the centre console. I have had a search but not found anything (sorry if there is). I don't really want to get a feed direct from the battery if I can help it, and just wanted to know if I can pick up a 12volt feed as close as possible to the console (to reduce extra wiring) and to place an inline switch so I can switch it off when not in use. I need it to be live even when the key is removed from the ignition. I need it to feed a camera I have up front.
cheers

Don't know if it helps, but since the electrical system between RRS and D3 is likely to be very similar... This was recently posted on rrsport.co.uk: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic12783.html Umberto B

There is a permanent live in the fuse box. It is one of the blade connectors on the right hand side of the fuses. Use a multimeter and I am sure you will find it.
Just take it back under the edge of the centre console. The rear vent surround comes off with a good tug. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Do you mind me asking what you need it for?
Its just that in the boot, left compartment as you look in, there is a loom which is some how connected to the trailer electrics. I think its the purple wire that is a 12v permanent power feed. I know that just above that compartment you can fit a 12v socket - its either there already or there is a blanking plate and maybe you could rig up your permanent feed there.
Do a search about on the site first but I'm pretty sure that might be of help to you.
good luck
