So after reading various threads about using peanut butter to restore a cars trim I gave it a go today. In all honesty up until I started to see the results I thought to myself; is this a joke/prank that everyone goes through only to find out they been done.
Anyway. I was very impressed with the results and can confirm it actually works. While using it one neighbor said he thought it was there for a snack and the other was impressed too and will now try on his car.
On the back above the number plate I cleaned it a little and then applied the peanut butter. On the rest of the bits I didnt clean it and applied peanut butter straight on.
This was more of a test so when I finish the car off I will clean the car and all trims as I feel it would make it easier to apply the peanut butter as I had to use a lot more than the back as the butter seemed to be cleaning the trim before it actually started to restore and shine.
I was extremely impressed with the trim under the front windscreen and the left window wiper as both these parts I have tried before to clean and never seen the trim come up black. The part under the front windscreen I did I will give another coat or two as I feel it could have done with a bit more to get it a few shades darker/back almost to original look.
Overall very impressed and I will definitly be doing this from now on.
It does take a little bit of elbow grease and try avoid getting the butter into small parts/joints as its a little hard/awkward to remove!
I have seen something online called c4 I think which apparently lasts 8/9 months but for its price and amount you get for the price unless you have money to spare then it's not worth it. This apparently lasts 3/4 months.
Must say for around £1.50 it's a no brainer and not a big hassle to do every few months.

That would be a lot easier to use. Does it last as long because if it does then it would be better to use olive oil?.

I tried boiled linseed oil on my scuttle panel but it didn't last very long. Looked good when done si I was hoping for long-lasting results but unfortunately not

I tried linseed oil too on my scuttle panel looked OK for a week or so but after that back to pale faded grey
I've bought some Matt black plastic spray paint I'm going to try it today as a last ditch attempt before I pay the £60 for a new scuttle panelD4 rear lights

30 mis of GTechnik c4 lasts at least a year...it wipes on & stays black repeatedly washed
30 mis easily does a whole Disco 3...thats all the black stuff
60 quid for a new panel that also fades is compared to 30 quid or less & it lasts at least a year
is not just a wise choice it saves wasting Peanut butterBREXIT - done properly.

1st coat on ok but I will need a 2nd and maybe a 3rd my own fault went to deep with the sandpaper to give it a key tbh probably didn't need it just a good clean and dust off colour looks good though I'll put some pics up when finishedD4 rear lights
