PDC not working

Hello!

I just bought a 06 HSE PP, great car to ride, hopefully great car to own as well Smile
unfortunately it came with a fault on the PDC that maybe someone here can help me solve..

The park assist doesen't work at all, when i start the car the PDC button flashes until i press it. No sound or signal is given when closing up on obstacles. According to last owner, he belived it had something to do with the wires in the back bumper, known issue? Any tips on where and how to start troubleshooting this?

Could be a few things: Ice on sensor, faulty sensor, faulty wiring.

Apparantly you can hear a clicking sound from the sensor when they are active. Try pressing the P button and listening to the sensors (en og en). Not sure if you may have to select D or R (automatic), but make sure someone is sat on the brake when you jump out to listen to them Whistle

Thumbs Up

Car needs to be in reverse, with an auto I would imagine running so someone to put foot on brake, you cannot use handbrake as this disables it (on a manual anyway). If you put your finger or something close to each detector then they should be heard to click, it is quite faint so get close to them.

You say you press the button when you start the car, does it make a noise then? What happens if you don't press it?

Because you say it doesn't make any noise I would imagine it is something else as when the sensors fail then it is a constant noise, a dealer once changed a module on mine which I don't believe was a sensor, so it could well be something else.

D4 owner and not a D3 but has he turned the volume right down by mistake - before you throw any money at it. Reverse up to something and then turn up the stereo volume knob and see if it works.

I've had it where it flashed and made no noise which I think is due to it having a fault. It cleared when I went to get the FCR (turned igniton off and on) so I never got to read the fault code... Rolling Eyes

There is no sound before or after i press the button, it just stops flashing. Tried to back up on something, and no sound.

Dont know the fault codes but apparently it all started with a fault code saying broken sensor aft/left.
Then a fault code saying a problem with wireing both front and aft.
Either there is multiple fault, or something is causing it to look like it?

sorry for my poor english skills Smile

On my RRS i used to start the car, the button would flash fast for a bit and a long pitched sound for two seconds before stopping. Turned out needed new wiring harness behind front bumper. Bought from duckworth parts for next to nothing

Might be a wiring loom problem........however, if you don't have no sound at all I bet that the small PDC speaker is broken. Happened to me and to a buddy of mine.
Its a cheap part and located on the left side below the third row window.
You need to gain access through the rear lower interior trim panel.
If you want I can email you the manual how to do this.

an manual would be highly appreciated! Will check the speaker as well.
If its a wire loom problem (a bunch of cabels?) where is it most likely to be broken?

Very grateful for all your help guys, exellent forum!

No way of telling. Do all sensors click in reverse when you put your ear to the?
