Navara's with the 2.5 DI engine are notorious for conrod through the block, look in ebay for Spares and Repairs for Navara's and i'm sure a few will come up.
The one we had was a little rough and noisy, but very good torque and economy.

I made the plunge and I'm already regretting it!
So I bought an 05 Discovery 3 here in Switzerland. 230,000km on the clock but in great nick. Cost around 6,000 GBP.
Brakes and gearbox had just been changed and four new tyres.
Now had it three weeks and the electrics have started playing up. When driving along the doors would automatically open and lock again then the indicators wouldn't work (as hazards would go on) and the radio would go off - this would last a few minutes.
On one occasion I stopped the car and tried to restart the engine thinking it would reset the electrics but the car wouldn't restart again. This lasted a few minutes before restarting.
On Friday morning the air suspension light appeared on the dash board lighten up in orange. Looking at the car it has definitely lowered and we can feel every bump in the car now. Every time we start the car now that light is there.
Needless to say, the garage we bought it from wouldn't give us a warranty as it said they don't give warranties on cars over 200,000km. I reckon they must have known something was up - although it did drive without any problems for the first three weeks.
Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong and how much it could potentially cost to get fixed?

I had a Pathfinder as a works vehicle in the Middle East. It was a petrol model with an auto box and to be honest in the 2 years and 50,000km I did in it it never missed a beat.
I used it for driving on highways, but predominantly on hard gravel / sand tracks when visiting remote locations. It was very capable cross country, but not much room for rear seat passengers. It did eat tyres, but I put this down to poor road conditions.
Not as luxurious as a Disco and not as big. That said I never drove it worrying that it would break down! Lol
A little hard to compare like for like, but if I were picking a family vehicle I would go for the Disco. If I wanted an expedition vehicle then I would go Pathfinder.

Easy..Disco has life, soul and passion. The other does not...And I believe the Disco is better protected against rust when aging...

starting from the fact that both are well preserved, I humbly believe, leaving passions aside, that there is no possible comparison in anything ... there is simply no competition ... if you can't see it ... buy the nissan! do not hesitate!lost in translation!
