When you say it's not the rack do you mean the bellows aren't filled with fluid?
I had a hairline crack in the main body of the rack that was, at first, impossible to see, despite having enough fluid loss to cover the whole area, on my first D3.
There did seem to be a problem with this crack on quite a few early D3s. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
Grey 05 TDV6 HSE Auto (Gone)
54 TDV6 SE Man (killed by me )
