Particulate filter removal 2009 D3 - performance increase?

Well ive had my D3 from new for 10 months now and ive clocked up 30,000 miles, and im looking to improve the performance.
I spoke to Pete at BAS a while ago about a remap and was told that you can't tune a D3 with a particulate filter to the same extent due to the increased emmisions blocking the filter.
Im thinking about removing it and replacing it with a standard section of pipe or removing the internal components so the standard sensors can remain in place.
Anyone tried it?

Im also thinking about removing the CAT to improve performance along with a new intercooler.

Ill be blanking the EGR's and removing the buterfly valve too, is there anything else i should be considering to get more BHP?

HI
You may have the phone call interpretation slightly wrong.

It should have said, to push a car for even more power with a DPF fitted can cause problems in some cases,
we can still get a good 38bhp and 88nm of torque from it even with the DPF fitted, so its not a must that you remove it.
In honesty i would not remove it if your car is a 2009 as it still has 2 years warranty on it, that goes as well for the intercooler.
Unless of course your warranty is not a problem.

RE the EGR you cant blank it without some special mapping because it will bring the engine management lamp on unlie the older pre 07 cars that dont, so again i recommend you leave it as is and if they fail take the car back under warranty andhave a repair.

If warranty is not a problem i can remove the DPF, map it to suite remove the egr etc etc, but as said i cant see its really warranted just for a few extra BHP.

Yep, sell it and buy a D4 Laughing Laughing

It has the aerodynamics of a Brick, but yet still reaches 70mph ( maximum permitted limit on British roads) pretty well.

Welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

Ive got a brand new 6.0l v8 LS2 crate engine sitting in the workshop, that would be a nice option! but its destined for the new Challenge Truck Very Happy

Pete ill give you a call tomorrow with my credit card details, im also going down to Jims (gigglepin) tomorrow, so will put it on the ramps to get a closer look at the DPF and how we can make a few subtle changes Wink
