Parking sensors not working after water hit |
|
Hi.
Seems plenty out there on Parking Sensors after searching but still struggling.
No problems until yesterday when a massive flood spray from an HGV hit the D4, lasted for about 3 seconds and nearly took me off the road as I couldn't see a thing.
Since then the parking sensors front and rear do not seem to be detecting, the sensor switch on the console flashes a few times then stops.
Wondered if a water ingress problem from the flood might be causing this and what best to check to get them working again.
Thanks. 2015 D4 HSE in Corris Grey

I had a similar problem with my D3. I first noticed it after driving through a deep ford.
Eventually it was traced to a tiny nick in one of the cables to the rear sensors. This was letting in water. It was hard to source the problem, as when it dried out it would work fine. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Mine's done it twice. Each time, the problem lasted for a day and then fixed itself when it dried out.
It's been traced to the rear wiring loom for the PDC so is going in tomorrow for a replacement under warranty. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Haven't looked yet as been too wet but can these looms be accessed without removing bumpers? 2015 D4 HSE in Corris Grey

Same for me too, but one of my rear sensors was jiggered too.

The dealer diagnosed it with the bumper on (presumably from fault codes & inspection). The repair is a bumper off job. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Well after a couple of days parking it with a hot engine and warm weather, things seem to be back to normal, so fingers crossed it stays that way.
Thanks for your comments chaps. 2015 D4 HSE in Corris Grey

Seems to be a common occurence, my sensors started playing up a couple days ago after torrential rain. Getting a "camera inoperative, contact dealer" warning, although i dont have camera option? Anyway, will leave it a day or two and see if this rain stops and it dries out....... still under warranty so dealer will be next stop if not.
