Mudguards have to come off - great fun.
The outer sensors you can change without removing the bumper.
I had an int fault on the inner right sensor (no reading),
Turned out to be a fault on the PDC bumper loom not the sensor.
I have another one to do on Tuesday with a loom fault.
Ian..so what can I fiddle with today that ain't broken ...?

Do you think I could force the screws out are they into plasic or metal clips or will it be get the grinder in job and mole grips on the bit that's left after plastic bits removed

When I removed my old mudflaps I used a grinder to put a slot in the screw and the vibration loosened them upJoined the BMWX5 45e group

The mud flaps come off to allow you to remove the quarter panel mouldings.
Three plastic screws into plastic clips. Not available on their own.
Hope this helps

well what a barsteward got the mudguard off by grinding a slot in the screws that then allowed me access to the parking sensor but low and behold i could not get the out
in the end i resorted to brute force and ignorance and it came out in 3 peices no less 1 of which still remained in the bumper but a bit of savagery with a screwdriver and hammer soon saw that departed it had vertually welded itself in a quick spray with the wd and a wipe with a rag and the new sensor slid in home a treat
all in all what could have been an easy job turned it to a problem due to a few rusty screws and a stuck home sensor
as daft as it sounds if sensor was not stuck i had been able to get to the clips without taking the bumper off just by undoing bottom trim peice and tow electrics cover but convinced mysely it was held elswhere as well due to the fact it would not move
hay ho
thanks for all the help

Well pinhead did this sort out your parking sensor issues? I am having problems with mine, but I haven't got to the bottom of what the problems are?

Have the fault code read.
If it is showing as the same sensor you have replaced then it will probably be a loom issue.
Sounds daft, but some types of grit can cause odd errors - taking the sensor out of the holder and giving it and the holder a soapy wash can cure some issues!
I have an issue with my rear ones at the moment. The inner right is the culprit, but as it works some times and not others I think it is the loom not the sensor. It gave me grief this time last year but sorted itself out. When I get some space in the workshop will have the rear bumper off and have a look see...so what can I fiddle with today that ain't broken ...?

Mine started playing up agin one we had the freezing weather. I folllowed the instructions to determine which sensor wasnt working, by listening for the clicking noise at each one. Also having read that the loom often fails I ordered one from TLO.
Stripping the back of the car was fun! Eventually got the silent sensor out of the bumper, it came out in two halfs fitted new sensor and the loom. Once refitted its worked perfectly, I chose to do the loom at the same time to save getting the bumper off again.
My tip would be have new clips ready for refitting the bumper and wheel arch brows look so much neater than reusing old ones. Biggest issue I had was the nearside captive nut where bumper bolts behind rear light decided it no longer wished to be captive!
